About us
Working Together
Established in May 2020 in response to concerns about the impact of COVID-19 on member organisations, the Global Cancer Coalitions Network collectively represents over 775+ cancer patient advocacy and support organisations who are working on behalf of over 14 million patients around the world. The network came together to share experiences and best practice, a process they have found invaluable during the pandemic, and one that they plan to continue.

Our Past Successes
Since coming together in 2020, the GCCN has completed two surveys looking at the impact of the pandemic on our member organizations, the patients they support and cancer services. Both of the reports were widely covered in global cancer publications and formed the basis of a number of abstracts. Most of our GCCN members have also presented the findings from this work within their own networks and presented the findings and a number of events and congresses. We also ran a successful series of webinars around key issues raised by this work.
Through both in-person and virtual meetings, GCCN has strengthened our coalition members through the sharing of best practices, educational and engagement opportunities and tracking global trends.

Coalition Connection 3: Sustaining Patient Advocacy Post-COVID
Many patient advocacy organizations faced extraordinary challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, from loss of crucial funding to significant reductions in human resources, both paid and unpaid.
As we look to a post-pandemic future, at this free GCCN event we will hear three perspectives from the advocacy world on how they coped with those challenges, what ‘silver linings’ they found, and how out of the box thinking was adopted in the face of this global health crisis- and ultimately what can be taken away as lessons learned as we transition to the new ‘new normal’.
A live Q&A will follow and registrants can pose initial questions upon registration.

- On the Ground Data: results from the GCCN survey of patient organizations on the impact of COVID-19
- Consequences of Isolation: the psycho-social impact of pandemic related isolation
- New communication methods: the value and drawbacks of new and innovative communication approaches developed during COVID-19

COVID-19: Impact on Cancer Patient Organisations
In 2020 we asked our partner organisations to participate in an initial and follow-up COVID-19 impact surveys. We are happy to share the final results here.
Released on World Cancer Day during the GCCN Coalition Connection inaugural event on COVID-19, the survey results show that patient advocacy organisations are facing a clear and present danger with few signs of reprieve as the pandemic continues.
